Stephanie Cunha is a biochemist and entrepreneur in the mental strength training industry.
While being a competitor athlete and winning the mountain biking cross-country Rhone-Alpes trophy cup in 2007 and 2008, she obtained in 2008 her PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Biochemistry at the prestigious University of Lyon 1 in France.
Passionate by the function of the body’s molecules on the brain and emotions, she pursued her research in sport psychology and developed practical tools for athletes to optimize their mindset, which will become later on the Adaptive Mindset System TM.
Stephanie moved in USA in 2009 to complete her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Utah. While having the best mountain biking experience and playing soccer in Salt Lake City, she will pursue her research and spread the Adaptive Mindset System among the mountain biker and soccer communities. During these years she became a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and was elected as an evidence analyst. In 2015, Stephanie became an ACSM certified trainer. The next year she moved in Portland Oregon, where she started to practice Shotokan Karate and met Lisa Lucchesi, a chemist and a leader at Nike.
Lisa Lucchesi is a leader at Nike in all things related to testing, with a motto of “you make it, she breaks it.” Prior to her work at Nike, she was a product developer for 15 years in the medical device industry, taking products from concept, scale-up, and tech transfer, all the way through commercialization. Her pet projects included wound dressings for severe bleeding for the military that received the second-fastest FDA approval and were awarded status among the top 10 greatest Army inventions of 2004.
Her passion and expertise is in developing fast, effective, and relevant strategies for iterative improvements in products, sports, and life.
Her motivators are family, developing others, and learning. She is very in tune with others’ emotions and inspired to help others reach their full potential, and she thrives on trying new systems and growing. In sports, like business and research, there are many obstacles that stand in the way of getting to the next level. She is ready to share her learning to help the athletic community overcome these challenges.
She played softball for seven years as a pre-teen through high school, was an avid mountain biker for five years. She obtained in March 2020 her second degree black belt in Shotokan karate.
